Reading slower on purpose
One book at a time, and notes in the margin.
I used to read three books at once and remember none of them. This year I read one at a time, with a pencil.
The rule is simple: if nothing in a chapter is worth underlining, that's information too. Some books earn a slow read; others earn a polite goodbye.
How we spend our days is, of course, how we spend our lives.
